Button5 Sheltered housing

For active older people we have one bedroom and studio flats in schemes where support is available on call from a resident warden or the community alarm service.

We have four sheltered housing schemes in Harrow.

Support at all four schemes is available from a scheme manager during office hours and from the community alarm service at other times.

The manager keeps an eye and ear out for the welfare of tenants and helps organise any social activities or meetings tenants agree they would like.

All flats are self-contained and tenants are free to come and go as they please and to decorate them, within reason.

Each scheme has a large lounge shared with other residents and used for meetings and social affairs.

Tenants pay a weekly rent for their flat and a separate charge for services shared with other tenants, including upkeep and cleaning of shared parts of the building and the manager’s support.

Tenants have a direct say in how each scheme is run. Each scheme has regular coffee mornings where tenants can talk about services and suggest changes.

Each scheme also has its own social committee, run by residents. They decide the agenda and do most of the organising and, if needed, fundraising. Taking part is purely voluntary.

We also have a formal forum for all our sheltered tenants to discuss topical matters, our services and other relevant issues.

How to apply: you can apply to us directly if you are interested in a sheltered housing flat. Call us on 020 8426 4995 or send an email to older peoples services manager Edith Saituru.
