self-contained housing and support for older people, from active senior citizens to those who are physically or mentally frail, including mild dementia

advice and activities for older and other vulnerable Harrow residents, from learning to use a computer or expert advice on benefits, to nail clipping and manicures, art classes and Bingo

shared housing with support for vulnerable young people aged 18 to 24 who typically have been in care or referred to us by another support service or who are having a difficult time with family

purpose-built housing for younger physically disabled people

a house ‘like any other in the neighbourhood’ for families with one or more members living with an incurable illness

a ’pay for the materials only’ service fitting aids or adapting the homes of older or disabled Harrow home owners or private tenants

Our motivation

HCHA stands for Harrow Churches Housing Association.

We are a small and growing housing association operating in north west London where we provide affordable housing and support services for vulnerable people.

We were set up in 1967 by active members of the local church community concerned about the living conditions of people then renting privately in Harrow.

A chief concern was the plight of elderly women living in ‘digs’. Appropriately the first homes we built were in the then modern concept of manager-supported sheltered housing.

The Christian spirit of helping those less fortunate than ourselves continues to motivate our staff and the board of volunteers who govern us and oversee our standards.

Our services for older people have changed and progressed and we have found new clients - all of them people who with a little focused support can lead independent and fulfilling lives.

We are a signed up member of the National Housing Federation’s in business for communities initiative.
