Button5 Ewart House: a new model for housing

Ewart House and its neighbour, Abigail House, were judged the Best New Place to Live in London in the 2010 London Planning Awards.

Our extra care sheltered housing scheme combines the best of modern architecture and interior design with cutting edge renewable energy technology.

Staffing is the extra vital ingredient. There is professional support from our on site team, and our specialist partners Creative Support provide personal care on call around the clock.

The flats are light, spacious, modern and comfortable. Most have a balcony and some have two bedrooms.

There are services literally on our tenants’ doorstep - a café serving tasty, nutritious food, a health spa offering hairdressing and assisted bathing, and private gardens, including a discreet pacing area for tenants with mild dementia.

Indoors Ewart House could be a boutique hotel. And yet the weekly cost to tenants is no more than they would pay for sheltered housing anywhere in Harrow.

It is a place where older people in frail physical and mental health are being helped and encouraged to live a full and active life. It is a model we think bears replicating and we plan to do just that.
